Canada's busiest multi-modal passenger transportation hub, designated as a National Historic Site, recently underwent a restoration that required the replacement of over 25,000-square-feet of diamond profile battens and copper pan roofing. The project involved the upper and west sloped copper roof areas including demolition and replication of heritage copper and brass framed skylights, reroofing of all flat roof areas, masonry restoration, and replacement of various decorative copper elements such as louvres and lead coated copper ledges. This roof restoration project was given the name "The Fifth Façade" by +VG Architects as the roof line is a visible part of Toronto's skyline for so many of the neighboring high-rise buildings.
