Heritage Hall occupies a structure that in 1913 served as a post office in Vancouver but but has now become a vibrant community center. Beginning in 2021, McGinn Engineering & Preservation worked with the City of Vancouver to update the building and perform a seismic upgrade. The scope of work included stabilizing the mass brick clock tower and roof and seismic pinning of the sandstone and brick envelope.

As a part of this project, the city decided to upgrade the roof system, comprised of a slate surface and including anthemion leaf details and cone-shaped finials. The installation team also fabricated new gutters, tower fascia/aprons, ridge vents, custom roof vents, custom copper tower louvers, copings, and flashings from sheet copper. In addition to recognition from CDA, the team’s attention to detail and excellence in craftsmanship earned the project a City of Vancouver Heritage Award for Architectural Conservation.
