Dale Powell and James Weflen Named CDA Regional Managers

NEW YORK - Dale L. Powell and James O. Weflen recently joined the Copper Development Association Inc. as its northeastern and western regional managers, respectively, for plumbing and mechanical applications.

Powell and Weflin have responsibility for supporting building owners and plumbing and installation contractors in their regions on all matters related to the use of copper in plumbing and mechanical installations.

CDA's national program manager, Andrew G. Kireta, Sr., said, "Dale's 17 years in the plumbing and HVAC industries as an installer, estimator, project coordinator, designer and educator and Jim's 14 years in operations, construction, plumbing services and related areas have provided them with a wealth of experience and savvy in the use of copper for plumbing. Both expand CDA's capability to serve the building community."

Powell and Weflen are teamed with Robert L. Hall, who manages the southeast region; Andrew G. Kireta, Jr., who handles the midwest region.

Prior to joining CDA, Powell held increasingly responsible positions in estimating, fab shop and job supervision with major contractors in Pennsylvania, and has taught classes in copper soldering, brazing and welding as well as advanced theory and techniques of copper installation.

Powell studied architecture, building construction, drafting and mechanics at Penn State University, University of Kentucky and Harrisburg Area Community College. He received his Journeyman's Certificate from Local 520 Plumbers and Pipefitters Apprenticeship Program and his Instructor's Certification from Purdue University-United Association Instructor Training Program. He resides in Hummelstown, Pennsylvania.

Prior to joining CDA, Weflen was an independent contractor specializing in repair and remodeling of residential, commercial and medical suites. Previously, he held progressively responsible positions in operations and service management with prominent residential, industrial and commercial plumbing contractors.

Weflen studied at the University of Minnesota and received a business degree from Fullerton College. He holds a Journeyman's Certificate as well as accreditations in sales training and computer operations. He resides in Encinitas, California.
