FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LAS VEGAS, NV— The Copper Development Association Inc. (CDA) offers free informational CD-ROMs that focus on "Structured Wiring for Today's Homes" to trade professionals. [Note: The disks are available to attendees of the 2004 International Builders Show at the CDA exhibit located in the North Hall, booth #2829.]

" We now offer three separate editions of the CDs," says Bill Black, vice president of Wire and Cable for CDA. "Each disk addresses the needs of specific groups-homebuilders, installers and remodelers-and answers the questions and concerns each may have regarding structured wiring installation."

An estimated 40 percent of home construction today includes structured wiring, and this trend shows no sign of slowing. Homebuyers are increasingly aware of, and clamoring for, the benefits of "connected" homes with wiring systems that integrate telephone, cable, satellite and Internet functions.

" It is essential that builders, contractors and subcontractors fully understand what the new communications technologies mean to them," says Black. "These CD-ROMs address issues that affect construction professionals who are in an excellent position to profit from the growing demand for structured wiring. They all want to know: Is there a demand for structured wiring? Can I make money doing this? What options can I offer my customers? And, not least: Why should I complicate my life by taking on a whole new set of challenges?"

Through interviews with builders, architects, installers, homebuyers, developers, real estate agents and others, the easy-to-use CD-ROMs ask and answer key questions facing homebuilders and buyers alike. The disks show that many contractors are already profiting by adding structured wiring to their Portfolios. It describes the basics of structured wiring systems and explains the features and options available to the consumer.

The CD-ROMs contain video interviews and product illustrations along with texts of frequently asked questions (FAQs) that help to clarify the dozens of topics and subject areas covered. Sources where builders can go for further information are also included.

" Structured Wiring for Today's Homes" CD-ROMs in Homebuilders, Installers or Remodelers editions are available by mail from CDA at no cost. Visit our Publications List and follow the instructions for ordering.
