January 6, 2023

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Submissions for the North American Copper in Architecture Awards (NACIA) 2023 are now open. Now, in its 16th year, the awards presented by the Copper Development Association (CDA) celebrate distinctive copper building projects across the United States and Canada. Architects and contractors are invited to add their work to this distinguished portfolio of copper craftsmanship and innovation by March 31, 2023.

Projects of any size and type are eligible, so long as they feature architectural elements of copper, brass, or bronze; were completed in the last three years; and are in the United States or Canada. Entrants only need to submit basic project details and photos for consideration by March 31, 2023. The streamlined process is available here, and by visiting copper.org. There is no cost to submit. Last year’s winners included striking new copper installations, including a Montreal mega-hospital and an angular chapel in Utah. CDA also recognized accomplishments in historic renovations, such as the 202-year-old Court of Appeals in Washington, DC, and Chicago’s iconic Adler Planetarium dome.”

“Even after 11 centuries, architects and contractors are still finding ways to innovate with copper,” said Larry Peters, CDA’s project manager and architectural applications specialist. “This awards program is our opportunity showcase the craftsmanship of the men and women who continue to utilize copper’s natural beauty, workability, and resilience.”

Submissions are evaluated based on design, craftsmanship, integration of copper alloys, excellence in innovation or restoration, and sustainable building strategies. Winning projects receive an award, extensive exposure in architectural and construction magazines and other media, and recognition in CDA’s educational and industry outreach programs.
