Membership Offers Her a Seat on the Federal Advisory Committee Working Towards Elevating the International Competitiveness of American Renewable Energy Goods

NEW YORK, NY— The Copper Development Association’s (CDA) Director of Sustainable Electrical Energy, Zolaikha Strong, has accepted her appointment to the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Advisory Committee (REEEAC), as chartered by the United States Department of Commerce.

REEEAC delivers actionable guidance to the Secretary of Commerce regarding the development and implementation of programs and policies to promote the international competitiveness of American renewable energy and energy efficiency goods and services.

“The rapid increase in global demand for clean energy technologies and services provides a great opportunity for American businesses to introduce their world-class products and services to new markets,” U.S. Secretary of Commerce Pritzker said. “The Committee’s guidance and recommendations are instrumental in our efforts to address global climate change and promote U.S. leadership in environmental stewardship while expanding U.S. exports and strengthening our nation’s economy.”

Strong’s leadership in clean energy is evident, both in the development and ground-level deployment of renewable energy and energy efficiency policies, initiatives, technologies, and services, as well as in advising decision makers on the value of copper products in those markets.

CDA represents over 80 percent of U.S. producers, manufacturers, and fabricators of copper products. A major stakeholder in clean energy initiatives, copper’s unique properties make it a crucial component in sustainable energy projects and infrastructure. The metal’s supreme reliability and electric and thermal conductivity heighten the enduring dependability, energy efficiency, and operational longevity of solar and wind power generators, electric motors, and transformers.

“Zolaikha's clean energy expertise and leadership will be a powerful asset to the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Advisory Committee,” said Thomas Passek, President of the Copper Development Association. “Her depth of knowledge of the industry, derived from working in several areas of the sustainable energy field, will promote a well-rounded and comprehensive approach to elevating American sustainable energy products and services across the globe.”
