FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Director of the Advanced Manufacturing Office to Address Potential Opportunities for the Copper Industry to Work with the U.S. Department of Energy

NEW YORK, NY— Dr. Mark Johnson, the director of the Advanced Manufacturing Office (AMO) within the U.S. Department of Energy, will deliver the keynote address at the Copper Development Association’s (CDA) 2016 Spring Meeting on Wednesday, June 15th at the Park Central Hotel in New York City.

Copper is an integral part of sustainable energy initiatives because of its reliability, efficiency and performance. Copper’s unique traits make it a crucial partner in reaching America’s energy ambitions, and therefore CDA is exploring opportunities to work with the AMO on a variety of projects. Johnson’s presentation will focus on AMO projects that are relevant to the copper industry.

Due to its supreme reliability and electric and thermal conductivity, copper is distinctively suited for and prevalent in renewable and efficient energy infrastructure. These properties heighten the lasting dependability, energy efficiency, and operational lifespan of solar and wind power generators, energy storage, electric motors and transformers.

“We are elated to have Dr. Mark Johnson come to our meeting and speak to our members about DOE projects that directly impact their industry,” said Zolaikha Strong, CDA’s Director of Sustainable Energy. “Our work with the Advanced Manufacturing Office is extremely beneficial for the Copper Development Association and we look forward to continuing to build a mutually beneficial relationship.”
